Mykonos Airport (JMK) is 4 km south-east of Chora, the island’s whitewashed capital, on a low plateau between the town and the beaches of the south coast. It is small, windy and, in July and August, one of the most crowded airports in Greece for its size: around 1.5 million passengers a year squeeze through it, nearly all between May and October, and the summer sees direct flights from more European capitals than any island except Santorini.
Fraport Greece opened a new terminal in 2021, which fixed the queues and not much else: the runway is short, the meltemi blows straight across it, and taxis remain the island’s scarcest resource. Arrivals and departures share the one building; the bus stop, rank and car park are outside.
Chora is 4 km and about €20 by taxi, but Mykonos has only around 30 taxis, so the usual arrangement is a hotel shuttle or a pre-booked transfer. The KTEL bus runs to town a few times a day for €2; the new port for the ferries is about €25 by taxi.

Two hours, two and a half for a non-Schengen flight (UK, Israel). Allow more for the journey than for the airport: the ring road around Chora crawls on summer evenings and the shuttle may collect other guests first.
